Business Coach Profile: Michael Ngene

Michael Ngene has in the past three decades worked in the West Midlands as a business adviser, coach, trainer and consultant and has worked mostly with small to medium size firms. He has undertaken hundreds of Benchmarking and Business Reviews of private sector businesses on behalf of Business Link West Midlands. His specialist areas are in marketing planning, business planning, diversification, capacity building and financial administration.

Michael has considerable coaching and consulting expertise, and experience in strategy and policy development. Hs experience also covers: Business and financial planning, capacity building (planning, implementation and management), bid writing, organisational benchmarking and corporate development reviews – covering organisational structures, finance, staffing and process reviews, organisational rationalisation, restructuring and re-constituting of corporate bodies. Michael has also worked with departments and agencies; service delivery systems, including outsourcing and public/private partnerships, and has worked on human resources management policy, strategy and planning, system strengthening, and organisation development and change management.

He was also a board member of 3b (Black Businesses in Birmingham). 3b was the only ‘not for profit’ funding agency with its own seed-corn finance and has been servicing the clients of Birmingham Enterprise Network (BEN), and others actively engaged in the enterprise support market since its inception in 1986.

With the intervention of the Phoenix Fund, the 3b CDFI, the largest of its type in the West Midlands Region, provided financial support to start-up and existing businesses located in Birmingham and Solihull and the Black Country boroughs of Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley.
