When you join the Start Smart programme, you will be assigned a business advisor and they will work with you to support your development of a robust business plan.

All of our business advisor are experts in self-employment, many running their own successful businesses so they can make sure you start, smart!

We offer a variety of webinars on the Start Smart programme including:

Business Planning, Cash flow, Social Media, Bookkeeping, Marketing and Facebook.

Business Planning
This webinar will provide you with the knowledge to start to develop your business plan, it will look at why you wish to be self employed and the issues you need to be aware of, as well as the legalities of setting up a business such as whether to be a Sole Trader or Limited Company.
Marketing
On this webinar you will be exploring how to carry out your own market research, identifying your core customer group and the importance of brand, image and tone of voice. We also explore general marketing principles and the basics of selling your product or services to new customers.
Facebook
Facebook is an essential tool for businesses, from reaching out to your local community on public groups to market across the globe on Facebook Marketplace and keeping in touch with loyal customers in the UK via regular posts and messages. We'll get you up to speed on making Facebook work to your advantage when you're starting a business.
Bookkeeping
On this webinar we will be looking to improve your confidence/knowledge/skills in relation to understanding and implementing a bookkeeping system, the importance of having a bookkeeping system and how to complete a tax self assessment, ready for when you start to trade your business
Cash flow
On this webinar we will show you how to forecast your cash flow for the next 12 months and calculate realistic projections and targets for your business finances. You will also be able to produce a cash flow forecast for your business to assist in the launch, growth and any financial applications you may do.
Social Media
Attending this webinar you will get a better insight into social media and having an online presence for your business, understanding the benefits and risk of being on social media, and you will gain an understanding on how social media platforms are used to enhance your business, reach your core target customer group and increase your sales.
